This is the day all the organized fun happend. It also turned into one of my favorite days of all time. But, let me set the stage for that.
7 years ago. B and I attend the reunion and they had a Hot Sauce contest. I entered with my version of Grandma Z's recipe. Well, alot of other people entered theirs as well. B was even one of the judges. You would think that gave me an edge to win... you would be wrong. I lost. However, after further research, we found out that my cousin (the winner) actually bought his entry from a restaurant in Tulsa. The horror!!! I was robbed.
Present DayI was back for redemption. This time however, B suggested I try a Pico De Gallo recipe from The Pioneer Woman. I have adjusted it a bit but that is where the idea originated. Before we went out to the camp grounds we went to Aunt Angie's so I could make the salsa. During the course of making it I did the unthinkable. I rubbed my eye after cutting jalepenos. AHHHH. I wanted someone to cut my eyeball out of its socket. However, everyone seemed unfazed by my injury and continued to visit casually while I stuck my face under the faucet. But, I worked through the pain and off we went to the camp grounds.
Once again he was a judge. It started out with about 8 entries. Cousin Paul Jr. was the Master of Ceremonies.

They narrowed it down to four and then put them in order from there. To be fair, B took himself out of the judging when mine moved past the first round.
Aunt Vivian got 3rd.

Aunt Becky got 2nd.

I WON!!!!!!

I have the medal proudly displayed on my office door for everyone to see!!!
